LONG BEACH ANNOUNCES SHELTER VETERINARIAN RECRUITMENT

In an effort to improve health for people and animals citywide, the City of Long Beach Animal Care Services is pleased to announce the recruitment of a full-time State Licensed Veterinarian for the City's shelter. Qualified candidates with are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications: This position requires two years of progressively responsible experience in veterinary medicine; and a valid license to practice veterinary medicine issued by the State of California Veterinary Medical Board; demonstrated knowledge of herd health management and experience with shelter medicine; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of State laws, local ordinances, codes, procedures and practices regarding the humane treatment and care of animals desired. Experience with surgery, particularly high-volume spay/neuter procedures; knowledge of practices and procedures for diagnosis and conduct of postmortem examinations.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 annually. Initial salary placement is dependent upon qualifications and salary history but typically established below the midpoint ($95,000). Salary is supplemented by a competitive benefits package (see flier for details), available at www.longbeach.gov/acs.

Animal Care Services is open to the public Wednesday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Village is closed on Monday, Tuesday and all holidays. Call 570-PETS (7387) for service. Visit ACS online: www.longbeach.gov/acs.
