2013 Port of Long Beach Summer Youth Employment Program
The Port of Long Beach and Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network are proud to offer an outstanding career exploration opportunity for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the Long Beach Unified School District's service area. The eight-week program offers hands-on work experience and mentoring at the Port of Long Beach for those interested in careers in the goods-movement industry.

National Work Readiness Credential Training

In response to the continuously competitive teen job market, the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network's Youth Opportunity Center will offer work-readiness training throughout 2011 for Long Beach, Lomita, Signal Hill and Torrance youth (16-24 years old). The no-fee 25-hour, in-class program will culminate with the attainment of the industry recognized, National Work Readiness Credential paired with subsequent individual job coaching, career exploration and job search assistance. Goodwill Serving the People of Southern Los Angeles County is seeking out-of-school young adults who are interested in establishing a career in the healthcare industry. This program partially funded by the City of Long Beach Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network provides classroom, on-the-job training, and mentoring in preparation for the State of California Certified Nurse Assistant/Certified Home Health Aide exams.

Process Plant Technician Free Training Program


What is a Process Plant Technician? 
Petroleum, gas and chemical process operators monitor and operate petroleum, petrochemical, waste water, water, pharmaceutical and chemical plants. Operators monitor, adjust and maintain processing units and equipment in chemical plants. They use an electronic or computerized control panel to monitor and optimize physical and chemical processes for several processing units.
