The recent water service disruption at the Port of Long Beach did not affect water supplied to Long Beach residents. All water distributed to Long Beach homes and businesses continues to be clean, safe, and usable for all purposes.
At no time was the city's general water supply at risk. The water service disruption impacted only a small portion of the Harbor area and service was restored to this area on Friday afternoon, October 22. Shipping operations in the Port of Long Beach were not impacted by the water service disruption and cargo is flowing uninterrupted. No health issues were reported.
The City's top priority is to protect the health and safety of the public and its employees. Investigation of the cause is still underway.
The City of Long Beach continually monitors and inspects its water supply lines to ensure the health and safety of its residents, business operators, and visitors. The water quality issue at the Port of Long Beach was the result of a routine inspection, and at no time was water outside of a very small area at the Port of concern.
