Port Approves $4.7 Million for Local Schools


Today, the Port of Long Beach Harbor Commissioners granted almost $5 million in grants to 73 local schools in an effort to improve air quality for our Long Beach children. The Port Mitigation Grant Program was created to offset the cumulative effects of air pollution from Port operations and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

$1 Million was awarded to First District Schools. They include:

Cesar Chavez Elementary- $135,303
Edison Elementary- $126,093
International Elementary $90,422
Roosevelt Elementary School- $73,718
Stevenson Elementary- $90,422
Washington Middle School- $100,200
Renaissance High School- $50,803
St. Anthony High School- $291,021
St. Anthony Elementary School- $74,603
New City Schools- Long Beach Blvd Campus- $35,179
New City Schools- $30,505
Young Horizons- $37,542
