400 New Parking Spaces

One of the toughest challenges we face in the First District and other parts of the city is parking. Poor planning decisions in the past have left many neighborhoods in Long Beach with inadequate parking. One of my priorities since taking office last year was to try to address some of these concerns.

We are proud to announce that we have created or opened up over 400 additional parking spaces in the First District.  These spaces are on private and public lots and are now available to residents. Monthly permits range from $20 - $40 depending on the lot.

The locations include:

St Luke’s Church

523 East 7th Street

99 cents / Super Dollar

1525 LB Blvd.

Romeo’s Pizza

1950 Santa Fe

Cesar Chavez Park

Park Golden Av. at W. 5th

7th Street Redevelopment Lot

811 East 7th Street

East Village Lot

434 East 4th Street

Gallo Giro Lot

1795 LB Blvd.

Buddhist Temple

905 Orange Av.

Covenant Presbyterian

607 East 3rd Street

To reserve a spot, residents should register online at http://www.thepermitstore.com/ and enter the code Long Beach CPP, or call my Council Office at (562) 570-6919. You can also send questions to http://us.mc514.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=district1@longbeach.gov

These open lots will not solve all of our parking challenges, but it's a step in the right direction. We will continue to look for new lots, and explore other parking suggestions and solutions including the reduction of red curb space, diagonal parking on appropriate wide streets, adding bike lanes to reduce auto traffic, and permitted parking.

Go Long Beach!
