Dog Park Appreciation Project
In cooperation with the office of 8th District City Councilmember Rae Gabelich and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, the Nutro Company, a leading producer of natural pet food will conduct a "Room to Run" Dog Park Appreciation Project at the Uptown Dog Park at Scherer Park, on Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m. The Uptown Dog Park is located at the west end of Scherer Park, 4600 Long Beach Blvd.

The Room to Run project is a nationwide effort led by the Nutro Company to enhance dog parks in 30 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Associates will partner with volunteers to enhance a dog park in the community.

From June 16-18, the Uptown Dog Park will be closed in preparation for the project that will involve installation of new fencing and enlarging the dog park, and adding new benches and landscaping. Residents are welcome to volunteer in helping with the improvements on June 16 at 8 a.m. and to bring their families and their dogs on June 19th at 10 a.m. to celebrate the renovated park.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy an enhanced Uptown Dog Park.  Thank you to the Nutro Company for their investment in improving our community, and to our Parks, Recreation and Marine Department for working to expand the run area for large dogs and providing new elements to make the dog park a more enjoyable and safer experience for families and their dogs, " said 8th District City Councilmember Rae Gabelich.
