Nov. 30, 2009 - Mayor Bob Foster announced today that he has appointed Thomas Fields to the City’s Harbor Commission.
“I’m pleased to appoint Thomas Fields to the Harbor Commission,” said Mayor Foster. “He has served on various City Commissions and committees for more than a decade. He also has many years of business experience, which will be extremely useful when dealing with Port of Long Beach issues.”
Fields has lived in Long Beach for more than 30 years. The Eighth District Council resident has been extremely active in the community having served both the Redevelopment Agency Board and the Planning Commission. He also serves as vice president on the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House. Fields has more than 35 years of expertise in marketing and is currently the owner of Thomas Fields Associates, a marketing and advertising business. His clients include 20th Century Fox, Hyundai, and the Long Beach Housing Development Company.
“I am honored to have been asked by Mayor Bob Foster to serve on the Harbor Commission. This is a major responsibility and I look forward to fulfilling the trust placed in me by the Mayor,” said Fields.
The Mayor’s recommendations for Charter Commissions requires the review by Personnel and Civil Service Committee and City Council approval.
