Mayor Foster is encouraging resident to submit ideas and suggestions for Long Beach through the 2009 State of the City’s website at http://www.stateoflb.com/.
“The beginning of a new year is a natural time for people to reflect on the past but more importantly, to look to our future,” said Mayor Foster. “It is my hope that the site will provide another outlet for folks to share their aspirations for the City and their neighborhoods."
Suggestions can be submitted by clicking on the "Ideas" button on the State of the City homepage.
“It’s really refreshing for residents to have an elected official use technology as a vehicle to communicate,” said Ryan Smolar, President of Smolarcorp. Smolar created the State of the City website, as well as organizing other community events like University by the Sea. “With a quick click of the mouse, any resident could make a huge difference in Long Beach.”
Tickets are still available for the 2009 State of the City on January 13, 2009 by calling 562-570-5089 or through http://www.stateoflb.com/. Residents are encouraged to reserve their tickets as soon as possible as there are a limited number of seats in the Carpenter Center at California State University, Long Beach. Two tickets may be reserved per street address.
