DOWNTOWN ROBBERY SERIES - SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
Contact : Steve Prell, Detective, Robbery    (562) 570-7464
A series of robberies involving violent assaults on female victims occurred in the downtown Long Beach area from April 25, 2008 - May 2, 2008.  There were five robberies at four businesses and one robbery that occurred on the street.

On May 14, 2008, Las Vegas Metro Police, in the state of Nevada arrested a suspect, who was later found to be involved in these robberies.  Charles Juan Proctor, a 43-year-old transient of Nevada, came to Long Beach for several months in 2008 during which time he committed these violent crimes before moving back to Nevada.  Proctor was arrested for an attempted robbery he committed while in Nevada, and is still in their custody awaiting adjudication on their local charges.

Through the investigative work of the Long Beach Robbery Detectives and the evidence obtained, forensic analysis provided investigators with a potential suspect.  Our investigators have been able to link Proctor to two of the robberies in the series.

The Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office has filed the following felony charges:  Attempt Murder, Kidnap for Robbery, Robbery, and Mayhem.  A ONE MILLION DOLLAR warrant was issued for Proctor, and he has been booked in Nevada on that warrant.  Our Detectives have been in touch with Nevada authorities and are monitoring their case.

If anyone has information on these robberies, contact Detective Steve Prell at (562) 570-7464.
