On May 22, more than 100 community members attended the "Letís Talk Trash" public forum at the Aquarium of the Pacific, to discuss the potential solutions to protect Long Beachís beaches, marina and harbor affected by the Los Angeles River.  Mayor Bob Foster, Councilmember Gary DeLong, Councilmember Bonnie Lowenthal and Councilmember Suja Lowenthal invited several expert panelists, representing government and environmental nonprofits to the eveningís discussion.

"This problem isnít going to be solved with just one bill in Sacramento or with one government grant.  Itís going to take a collaborative and holistic effort," said Mayor Foster.  "The solution to our coastal water quality challenges is going to require cities and residents to look beyond their immediate self-interests, and take action for the good of the environment and for public health."
