In 2005, Long Beach Fire Department's Battalion Chief Charlie Hines resigned to work for the Yakima Fire Department. In June 2007, Charlie was appointed Fire Chief of Yakima, Washington.
Deputy Chief Hank Teran, after 28 years of service with the Long Beach Fire Department, was selected as Fire Chief of Bainbridge Island, Washington.
