Attached please find a summary of a recent grant solicitation from the U. S. Department of Labor (DOL) – "Small Grassroots Organizations Connecting With The One-Stop Delivery System."
The City of Long Beach Workforce Development Bureau (Bureau) is very interested in connecting with grassroots organizations to expand the capacity of our One-Stop System to meet the training, employment and career development needs of our local residents. Toward that end, we are asking for your help to inform local nonprofit organizations of this DOL grant solicitation by forwarding the attached summary to any of your member organizations that meet the definition of "Qualified Applicant."
Qualified applicants must be non-profit organizations which:
• Have social services as a major part of their mission;
• Are headquartered in the local community to which they provide these services;
• (a) Have a social services budget of $500,000 or less, or
• (b) Have 10 or fewer full-time equivalent employees;
Organizations that are interested in applying and partnering with the Bureau are asked to submit a brief summary by April 24 so that we can begin discussing and aligning our proposal strategies.
Applications are due to DOL by May 2, 2006
