On June 2, 2005 Recruit Class #81 began their training at the Long Beach Police Academy. Sixty recruits arrived on the first day and started their 1,060 hours of police training. If the recruits complete the academy, their graduation is scheduled for November 30, 2005.
Training includes a wide variety of aspects including physical fitness, defensive tactics and classroom instruction.
