On Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m., at Ramona Park, 4900 E. 65th St, Detectives from the Long Beach Police Department's Gang Unit will speak to the continuing problem with tagging and other forms of graffiti. You will learn what the City is doing to eliminate this kind of vandalism and what you can do to help rid your neighborhood of this problem.

The North Facilities Center, in which the 9th District Field office is located, will be undergoing remodeling construction until mid-January, 2005, to make room for the Center for Families and Youth program. During construction the building will be closed to walk-in visitors. The 9th District Field office will continue to be staffed part-time, but Council aides will be unable to meet with constituents during regular daytime hours. Please continue to call the field office at 570-4524 or the City Hall office at 570-6137 for assistance from Councilman Lerch's staff.

The annual Halloween Carnival at Houghton Park will take place this year on Saturday, October 30th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. There is no admission cost to the carnival, but for 25 cents per ticket, children can participate in carnival games in a variety of booths inside the tennis court area at Houghton Park. Parking is available in the lot off of Myrtle Avenue, between Artesia and Harding Streets. For more information, call Houghton Park at 570-1640.
