Thursday Night Twilight Concerts in the Park
Bring your friends and family to the park and enjoy an evening under the stars listening to free musical entertainment. The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine is proud to present Summer Twilight.
Bring a blanket and lawn chair and be entertained!
All concerts will take place on Thursday Evenings from 6pm-8pm.

First Fridays will be on hiatus until Friday, August 7th. The current street repair of Atlantic Avenue and the July 4th holiday weekend has put First Fridays on hold temporarily. First Fridays will return in August, the event will be bigger and better than before with live entertainment and great exhibits. The reception for the Summer Shutters photo contest winners will be held in the Expo Building, 4321 Atlantic as part of the event program.
Please continue to go out for dinner and support the participating businesses on Atlantic during this tough time of road work interruption.

City Hall will be closed the last Friday of the month, at least through September, as a cost-cutting measure during these difficult economic times. With the dire financial straits of our state government, we are expecting an even greater hit to our city's budget in fiscal Year 2010. Your input in the fiscal priorities of our city is important.

It is not to late to join the Bixby Knolls Strollers. Join the Bixby Strollers every Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. Join the group at its NEW Location Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at 4105 Atlantic. It's a great way to get fit, check out the businesses, explore the neighborhoods, and meet your neighbors. (Friendly) dogs are welcome, too. The walks last for about an hour. Route changes each week. The Richard Goad Theater in Bixby Knolls is currently having performances of Alice in Wonderland through August 2nd. Shows are Fridays at 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. This is a great chance to see quality live theater in an intimate setting.

Below are the project designs and the City Planning and Building Department's staff report for the proposed retail development on the southeast corner of Atlantic and Carson, including the proposed conditions for approval.
The Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a Public Hearing on this item at its meeting on Thursday, March 16 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be located in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 333 W. Ocean Blvd. The public is able to speak at the hearing. If you are unable to attend the meeting and would like to comment on the proposal, you may submit written comments prior to March 16 to the Department of Planning and Building, Planning Bureau. The North PAC is looking for committed individuals and businesses who want to become more involved with their community as citizen advisors. There are two openings for business property owners and six for resident rental tenants. The qualifications are that you must live within certain boundaries, have an active interest in becoming involved and attend regular PAC meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month. A special meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee will be held this Thursday, September 30 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and approve a recommended scope for the Terminal Improvements Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The AAC's recommendation will then go to the City Council for approval.
Community input and participation in this process is very important. The meeting will be held at the Long Beach Energy Department at 2400 E. Spring Street.
