The City hosted its third community meeting this October  to discuss the bike boulevard plans for Vista Avenue.  The presentation that was delivered at the meeting is attached.  The current plan will have the Vista Bike Boulevard completed by summer 2010. 

Construction of the Termino Avenue Storm Drain will run for approximately 26 months beginning in October 2009.  The project will alleviate flooding and enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety throughout the project area.

Free Electronic Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, September 19th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Sea Scouts Parking Lot at 5875 Appian Way.

The 60TH ANNUAL GREEK FESTIVAL will take place with a three-day celebration at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Grounds in Long Beach, California for their 60th Annual Greek Festival.  Dancing, food, and entertainment will be a part of this annual celebration to be held Labor Day Weekend, Saturday September 5th, 6th, & 7th, 2009 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. all three days.

The Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) elected Long Beach City Councilman Gary DeLong as the 2009-10 Chair of its Governing Board.   Councilman DeLong succeeds Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, who will now serve as ACTA's Vice Chair.

On August 4, 2009, the Long Beach City Council approved the motion to authorize the City Manager to accept grant funding in the amount of $75,000 from the County of Los Angeles for the Colorado Lagoon Restoration Project.  The funding was made possible through efforts of Board Chairman and Fourth District County Supervisor, Don Knabe.

A brief project update will be provided to the public during the 3rd District Neighborhood Association meeting, to be held on August 20, 2009 at the Long Beach Yacht Club (6201 East Appian Way) at 11:45 a.m.

A Public Meeting to discuss the construction phase of the Termino Avenue Drain Project will be Wednesday, August 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson High School Auditorium.  4400 E. 10th St, Long Beach, CA 90804.

The Long Beach Municipal Band will be celebrating 100 years of music this summer.  The first show at Marine Stadium will be July 2nd at 6:30 p.m. and will run through August 13th.  See the full schedule attached.

The Alamitos Bay Marina Rehabilitation Project will be presented at an open house and scoping meeting at Khoury's Restaurant on Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  Khoury's is located at 110 North Marina Drive.

Please join Councilmember DeLong and the Orange County Tranportation Authority to learn about the planned improvements to the SR-22/I-405/I-605 interchange.  The 7th Street Bridge will be closed starting in June 2010.  There will be a community meeting Thursday April 23, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Wilson High School Auditorium, 4400 E. 10th Street.

Please attend one of two public meetings to discuss the proposed Vista Street Bicycle Boulevard Pilot Project, from Temple Avenue to Nieto Avenue.  The first will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the Mann Elementary Auditorium.  The second will be Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the Lowell Elementary Auditorium.

A Citywide document Shred Fest will be Saturday, May 9th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Located at the Long Beach Sea Scout Base Parking Lot in Naples, 5875 Appian Way.

On January 1, 2010, the connector between the 405/22 Freeway and westbound on 7th Street will be closed FOR 1 YEAR.  Please attend the community meeting on March 12th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Kettering Elementary School. 

Recycle all of your electronic waste at the Citywide E-waste drive at Cal State Long Beach on Saturday February 21st and Sunday February 22nd, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm in Parking Lot 14B by the Pyramid.

Leeway Sailing Center Revitalization Project Community Meeting. The meeting will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., at the Bixby Park Community Center, Room 2, 130 Cherry Ave.

The 5th Annual Belmont Shore Community Chocolate Festival originally scheduled for Saturday, Februaru 7, 2009, has been postponed due to the chance of rain.  The new date for the event is Saturday, Fedruary 21, 2009, 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

On Tuesday, June 5th the Long Beach City Council voted unanimously to move forward the updating of zoning on the Eastside. The current SEADIP (Southeast Area Development Improvement Plan) was created in 1977.
