Fishing Derby at El Dorado Park Annual Youth Fishing Derby!
On November 22, kids up to 15 years of age will be able to fish with their own poles at El Dorado East Regional Park lake in Long Beach. (Anyone over 16 years of age is required to have a CA State Fishing License.) Volunteers and staff of the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation will be on hand to lend rods and reels, and to educate kids on proper fishing techniques and etiquette. Bait will be provided free of charge while supplies last.

Parks & Recreation Commission Special Events - Recreation Meeting
The Long Beach Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a meeting of its Special Events and Recreation Committee on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. in the Parks, Recreation and Marine Administration Office at 2760 Studebaker Road in Long Beach. The attendees include Commissioner Bob Livingstone, Vice President Drew Satariano, Commissioner Albert Guerra, Manager of Special Events and Filming Dave Ashman and Manager of Community Recreation Services Chrissy Marshall.

Long Beach Sea Festival

The 75th Annual Long Beach Sea Festival is a three-month celebration featuring Independence Day Celebrations, sailing events such as the July 11 Mayor’s Cup, and popular family events such as movies and music at City parks. Mayor's Trophy Golf Tournament

The first annual Long Beach Mayor’s Trophy charity golf tournament to benefit Long Beach junior golf programs will be held on Friday, August 18, 2006 at Skylinks at Golf Course The event will serve as one of the first public appearances for the new Mayor of Long Beach, who will take office on July 18, 2006. Heartwell Golf Course Named One of the Best Par-3 Courses in the Southland
Long Beach’s Heartwell Golf Course has been named by Southland Golf Magazine as one of the 2 best par-3 golf courses in Southern California. Heartwell is an 18-hole, 2,143 yard par-54 course with bunkers, water, fairways, plenty of undulation and grass tee boxes. Southland Golf says these features give the track an uncanny “real course” feel. Escondido’s Reidy Creek course was the second course mentioned in the article.

Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame Dedicates New Home
Dedication ceremonies opening the new home of the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame will take place on Wednesday, October 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Skylinks of Long Beach Golf Course at 4800 East Wardlow Road. The Golf Hall of Fame was moved from Heartwell Golf Course into it’s new home at the Skylinks clubhouse following major renovations of that course.

Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine Drake Park Tennis Program a Success
A six-week youth tennis program at Drake Park that used both English and Spanish in its advertising and instruction has received the 2005 Tennis in the Park Community certificate from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) in recognition of its success.
