| | | | California Coastal Cleanup Day Saturday, September 15th, 2012 9am-noon

California Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event in the state. Every year on the third Saturday in September, tens of thousands of people head out to beaches, lakes and inland waterways to clean up trash. This event gives citizens an opportunity to take an active role in improving the health of our environment. You can make a difference!
How do I participate? All you need to do is show up on Saturday, September 15 and sign in.
Where do I go? We have six cleanup sites in Long Beach:
Alamitos Beach - Ocean Blvd at Alamitos Ave Alamitos Bay Marina - 255 N Marina Dr Belmont Plaza Pool - 4000 E Olympic Plaza Bluff Park - Ocean Blvd at Coronado Mother's Beach - E Appian Way under the 2nd St bridge Pierpoint Landing - 200 Aquarium Way
Do I need to register ahead of time? Everyone who participates in the event must sign a liability form. Participants under age 18 must have a parent/guardian's signature. Forms will be available at each cleanup site, or you can download and print a form from our website to bring with you to the event.
2012 Waiver
What should I bring? Sun protection, shoes and drinking water.
We also encourage everyone to "BYO" Bring Your Own. Our goal is to "Reduce" the amount of supplies we use and the trash we create.
"Reuse" Bring a reusable bag or bucket and an old pair of gardening or work gloves to pick up trash. Kids can bring their sand pails and shovels to help them clean.
"Repurpose" Create your own trash-collecting device. This is a great opportunity to creatively use items from around your house and garage. Cut the top off a milk jug, carton, or cleaning bottle to use as a container to collect trash. Any type of container that you can create and bring with you means that we use one less plastic bag. It all adds up and you can help make a difference.
