Long Beach, CA: Mayor Robert Garcia released the following statement in response to Florida Governor Rick Scott’s attempt to persuade shipping companies to move their operations from California to Florida:

“While I appreciate the Governor looking out for his state, the Port of Long Beach remains the best equipped, most efficient, and most sustainable Port in the world. The Port of Long Beach does more cargo business than all of Florida's 15 ports combined. In addition, our port is investing more in capital improvements than all 15 of Florida's seaports. The congestion we experienced earlier this year is being resolved and our port is operating at full capacity, with increasing traffic volumes. While Florida may benefit from growing local and regional traffic in the southeast, our Southern California ports continue to enjoy a well-earned, worldwide reputation as the single best location in the goods movement industry.”
