Building A Better Long BeachRelease Date: 2017-06-07
Yesterday I had the opportunity to address community leaders and our city staff about the progress we are making in development, housing, and economic growth. Our "Building A Better Long Beach" event was sponsored by the Long Beach Business Journal and highlighted all of the positive developments and projects happening across the city.
From the proposed Second & PCH project, to the 5,000 new jobs being created at the Douglas Park Development, to the new residential skyscrapers we are building Downtown, the city is booming.
Long Beach is an exciting place to live and work, and businesses and developers across the nation are taking notice with increased interest and investment. We are seeing that interest take form in construction cranes in our skyline, trades workers in hard hats, and new business applications to our city.
I was also excited to announce a historic investment being made by Cal State Long Beach that will bring more than 1,000 students and faculty to Downtown Long Beach. The new CSULB Downtown Village will give our downtown core a huge injection of economic investment with new dorms, more than a dozen classrooms, the CSULB Innovation Center, and art galleries.
If you missed the presentation, you can learn more about the investments happening across our city here.
I want to thank our city staff in Development Services, Public Works, and the Economic and Property Development Departments for their hard work. They have done so much to make Long Beach an inviting city to invest in and start a business.
Go Long Beach,
Mayor Robert Garcia
