Beach Streets UniversityRelease Date: 2017-04-26
I am excited to invite you to join me this Saturday, April 29th at one of my favorite events in Long Beach: Beach Streets! Long Beach’s Beach Streets open streets event is a time for residents to enjoy the open roads free of cars by walking, biking, running, or skating.
In the past couple years, we’ve opened the streets to thousands of pedestrians, cyclists, and joggers for Beach Streets from Downtown Long Beach to Bixby Knolls to Cambodia Town. This year, we are kicking off our first Beach Streets University in front of the Pyramid at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) at 11:00AM.
This event opens the streets across East Long Beach.
Whaley Park will be home to the “Kids Hub” where children can engage in fun activities like decorating bikes and rock climbing; and there will be a public skate park at the “Extreme Hub” located at the end of the route on Spring Street and Palo Verde Avenue. And we’ll have live performances by Long Beach local bands and BMX Freestyle Team demonstrations along the route.
So bike, run, or walk your dog at Beach Streets University and join me in connecting with neighbors and friends as we walk to celebrate sustainable modes of transportation in our city.
