Short-Term Rental Program

During adoption of the City’s Fiscal Year 2020 budget on September 3, 2019, the City Council asked for a delay in the start of the short-term rental (STR) program and reallocated a portion of the funding of STR positions to temporarily fund other City programs.

Tenant Relocation Assistance Ordinance

The City’s new Tenant Relocation Assistance Ordinance (Ordinance) affecting multi-family rental units is now in effect. The Ordinance will require landlords to pay relocation payments to residential tenants who are displaced by no fault of their own.

New State Building Standards Code Changes to Take Effect

Beginning on January 1, 2020, Long Beach is required by law to enforce the 2019 Edition of the California Building Standards Codes. All projects submitted on or before December 31, 2019, must comply with the new requirements.
