- City of Long Beach Building Standards Code
Every three years, Long Beach Development Services (LBDS) is required by State law to enforce the most current edition of the California Building Standards Code to establish uniform standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechancial systems, and fire and life safety systems. - City of Long Beach Municipal Codes

The State Fire Marshal's Office established the Code Interpretations Committee (CIC) to research requests for code interpretations. The CIC meets once a month to review and discuss each code interpretation request, then provide recommendations to the Division Chiefs for final endorsement and approval.
