The MFHEC is dedicated to providing:
- Linguistically appropriate programming for limited English speaking residents
- Professional/provider education and capacity building
- Community-based and community-driven programming
The heart of the MFHEC is the Multicultural Pavilion, a state-of-the-art conference and training center with built-in wireless language interpretation capabilities, LCD projectors and screens, cable TV/DVD/VCR, wireless microphones, teleconferencing and videoconferencing capabilities. The MFHEC also has a Public Health Resource Library and Multipurpose Room for childcare and smaller meetings. MFHEC facilities are used by DHHS health education programs and are available to community partners for health education, leadership development and community collaborative meetings and events.
Health education trainings and classes are also available at the MFHEC. Thanks to a generous grant from the Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation, the MFHEC offers free monthly family-centered health education forums and workshops on a variety of topics. The forums provide families with information and resources on topics related to childhood and adolescent health and well-being. The MFHEC houses several Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services programs that provide public and preventive health education, health promotion, training and services dedicated to meeting the needs of families and individuals in the community.
