Long Beach Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

The Long Beach MRC serves the City of Long Beach and its approximately 500,000 residents by working directly with the Public Health Emergency Management Program at the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. Our MRC is dedicated to the recruitment of physicians, nurses, other allied healthcare providers, and disaster service volunteers. The Long Beach MRC will aid the Public Health Department in providing mass prophylaxis at medication dispensing sites, triage and medical care at alternate triage sites, hospitals, and at the health department. The MRC will provide the public with education about disaster preparedness and response and also participate in city-wide disaster exercises.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Long Beach MRC Orientation and Summit on November 3rd! We had a great turnout of over 50 medical professionals. Evaluations for the event were all positive and we look forward to future training and exercises with our MRC members. The Long Beach MRC now has over 65 members. The majority of our MRC has been trained in disaster management, Incident Command System, START triage, and have been certified in NIMS IS-100. Come be a part of our exciting new team and help keep Long Beach safe!
