Long Beach to Conduct Point-In-Time Count of Persons Experiencing Homelessness

On January 24, 2019, the City of Long Beach will be conducting the ninth biennial Point-In-Time (PIT) Count of persons experiencing homelessness within the city. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to register today at www.longbeach.gov/health/services/directory/homeless-services and download the Homeless Count Flyer and Fact Sheet. Registration closes on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 5 p.m. The webpage above also provides information on various ways, in addition to participation in the PIT Count, community members can get involved.

PIT Count Participants must be 18 years or older and must attend an orientation before January 24, 2019. There will be no same-day orientation training on the morning of the PIT Count. One-hour orientations for volunteers will be hosted at the Multi-Service Center. Volunteers need only attend one of the following orientation dates and times:

  • Monday, January 14, at 1 p.m.
  • Monday, January 14, at 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 15, at 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 15, at 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 16, at 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 16, at 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 17, at 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 17, at 6 p.m.
