The Role of Men Academy (ROMA) began as a response to the high rates of infant mortality and low birth weight babies in the African American community. The program highlights the importance of father/child bonding, and provides education and case management services for expectant fathers and fathers of young children. Participating fathers receive parenting skills training, child development education, legal and financial issue assistance, assistance completing or continuing their education and employment preparation assistance.
