Step 1

THIS STEP IS MANAGED BY THE CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT


Completion of a City of Long Beach job application is required and can be completed and submitted on-line 24 hours a day when the filing period is open.

The filing period is generally open for ONE WEEK and applicants are encourage to complete a job interest card with the Fire Department in order to be notified directly when the application filing period is open.

Application filing date: Currently closed.

Completion of the FireTeam entry-level, firefighter examination is required. Applicants are encouraged to complete their testing through National Testing Network (NTN) before the application filing period.

Valid California State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification and/or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Certification will be required.
