South Coast Air Quality Management District Issues Smoke Advisory and Provides Health Tips

Many Long Beach residents woke-up Tuesday morning to find hazy skies and ash in the air. On September 1, 2009, SCAQMD air quality officials issued another smoke advisory today for areas of the Southland near the ongoing wildfires. Everyone in affected areas should avoid any vigorous activity indoors or out; people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should remain indoors. Here is some information to help protect you and your family from unhealthy air due to the area fires.

“Water Waster” Hotline and Email Ready to Receive Complaints

LONG BEACH, CA – Today, the Long Beach Water Department rolled-out a new WATER WASTER HOTLINE that has been put in place for Water Department customers who wish to report violations of City water-use ordinances, particularly overwatering of landscapes.Water Department customers may now report violations by calling (562) 570-2455 or by sending an email message to waterwaster@lbwater.org.
