On Monday, October 26, 2009, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a man was driving in the area of 20th street and Cedar Avenue with a female passenger. After the man stopped and exited his vehicle the suspect who was standing nearby shot him.    

The victim has been identified as 23 year-old Esaul Villagrana of Long Beach. He was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.    There is no suspect information available at this time but detectives believe the crime may be gang related and the investigation is ongoing.
