The City of Long Beach would like to highlight and recognize Sustainable Events throughout the City. The Long Beach community is invited to participate in these public events and take individual actions to make this city more sustainable.

|Solar 101 Community Workshop |
Wednesday May 1st 6:30-7:30pm
Organized by AMECO, the workshop will teach you how to use the sun's power to benefit your home or business. Our team of experts will go over the basics of solar energy in addition to other topics including: how much money you can save with solar, how to finance a solar installation, and how to choose the best solar system and solar installer. Attendees will be given the chance to ask questions at the end of the workshop. There are limited spaces available, so register today to lock in your spot at the Solar 101 Community Workshop! This month the wetland cleanup will be in collaboration with Friends of the Los Angeles River's event. Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve will be one of many sites for the annual Great LA River Cleanup. "This monthly event provides the neighborhood with a public exhibition space for all art forms. Independent, folk, grass root artists as well as professional artists. Musicians, dancers, theatre and street performers are encouraged to participate. There are spaces for 45 artists' booths, two music locations and also a space for theatrical performers or any other form of artistic expression. Together with a street closure, local art galleries and businesses participate by hosting various art events."

More than 147 tons of litter and dumped items are collected annually by volunteers participating in clean-up events hosted by the Environmental Services Bureau. Clean-up events happen year-round. A litter-free Long Beach depends on volunteers like you!

The Sierra Club Angeles Chapter arranges monthly conditioning beach walks and hikes with opportunities for all ages and levels of experience.
