CITY COUNCIL ADOPTS REDISTRICTING MAP: On Tuesday, July 5, 2011, the Long Beach City Council voted to adopt new City Council District boundaries. A map of these new boundaries can be seen on the City's Adopted Redistricting Map page. The first reading of the ordinance pertaining to these changes is scheduled for the City Council meeting on July 19, 2011.

LONG BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT: The District adopted new boundaries after conducting a similar redistricting process. LBUSD's new district map is available for viewing.

State Redistricting News: Public comments on Congressional, State Senate, State Assembly and Board of Equalization Districts may be submitted to the Commission via the Commission's public comment page.

It also provides a place for community members to provide public input. Those interested may also sign up for Long Beach redistricting updates through the City's e-notify system.

Notice of Meeting: Pre-Map Public Input Hearing - Long Beach, April 27, 2011 (1:00 - 5:00 PM)
News ImageThe Citizens Redistricting Commission was created by California voters to draw state Congressional, Assembly, Senate and Board of Equalization Districts. The public is encouraged to present testimony about the community they live in, describing the kind of people who live there, important issues, community centers and community history. Along with census data, publicly submitted comments will be used to assist the Commission when it begins drawing district boundaries. The Commission will be taking testimony in Long Beach on April 27, 2011 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM before drawing its first round of draft maps which will be released June 10th. Final district maps must be approved by the Commission by August 15th. If you wish to speak at the meetings, please note that comments are limited to 3-5 minutes (depending on the number of participants who wish to speak).

Long Beach Letters to the Citizens' Redistricting Commission, March 15, 2011
News ImageThe Long Beach City Council directed staff to reach out to the California Citizens' Redistricting Commission and request the Commission to host a public input meeting in Long Beach. City Manager Pat West sent a letter to all four of the Los Angeles County Redistricting Commissioners to request a meeting.
