The Home Security Lock Program provides Long Beach residents up to $300 for the cost and installation of deadbolt locks on entry and exit doors. A City selected vendor provides all services and materials, with no cost to residents. The Lock program augments the Home Security Lighting Rebate Program to make families feel safer and more secure in their homes. WHAT IS THE HOME SECURITY LOCK PROGRAM?
The Home Security Lock Program provides a Voucher for up to $300 per parcel to eligible residential property owners for the cost and installation of deadbolt locks on entry/exit doors.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Property owners of single-family, owner occupied properties are eligible (single-family property is defined as 1 to 4 units.) Federal income limits apply for the owner and tenants/occupants household.
HOW DO I APPLY?
The property owner must complete an application form and submit it to the Neighborhood Services staff. Upon receipt of the application, property ownership will be verified and eligibility will be determined. If you qualify, a Certificate of Eligibility will be sent to you with instructions on how to arrange for installation of the deadbolt locks.
WILL I BE REIMBURSED FOR BUYING MATERIALS OR PAYING FOR INSTALLATION?
No. The City has contracted with a designated vendor to provide all services under this program. You will not receive money. You will receive a Voucher that will authorize the vendor to install appropriate locks at your property.
ARE ALL DEADBOLT LOCKS ELIGIBLE?
No. Only deadbolt locks that meet City safety requirements can be installed. Deadbolts that lock from the inside with a key are not legal in the City of Long Beach.
