The Home Security Lighting Program provides rebates of up to $500 per parcel to residential property owners for the purchase and installation of security lighting. Lights activated by motion (sensor lighting) or lights timed to go on and off at dusk and dawn are eligible. Property owners have used the program to make their homes or rental units secure from burglars and vandals.  Contact the Neighborhood Services Bureau at (562) 570-1010 to request an application.

WHAT IS THE HOME SECURITY LIGHTING PROGRAM?
The Home Security Lighting Program provides a rebate of up to $500 per parcel to residential property owners for the purchase and installation of security lighting.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Property owners of single-family, owner occupied properties are eligible (single-family property is defined as 1 to 4 units.) Federal income limits apply for the owner and tenants/occupants household.

HOW DO I APPLY?
You must complete an application form and submit it to the Neighborhood Services staff. Upon receipt of your completed application, ownership of the property will be verified and eligibility will be determined.  If you qualify, a Certificate of Eligibility will be sent to you.

WHAT GUIDELINES DO I NEED TO FOLLOW?

1. Do not purchase materials, begin work, or hire a contractor until you receive a Certificate of Eligibility.
2. Work should not commence until the necessary permits from the City of Long Beach Development Services Dept. have been obtained. No rebate will be made without proof of permit, except for solar lights. 
3. Only reasonably priced motion sensor, solar lights, and photocell timer fixtures can be installed. (The City reserves the right to refuse reimbursement for high priced fixtures.)

ONCE THE WORK IS COMPLETED, HOW SOON WILL I RECEIVE THE REBATE CHECK?
The Neighborhood Services Bureau will process your rebate check within six to eight weeks of receiving the required receipts, invoices, a copy of the electrical permit, copy of the final inspection, and a completed Owner Invoice.
