MISSION To provide safe and livable neighborhoods in Long Beach by promoting, developing, and preserving decent, safe and affordable housing for the very low-, low- and moderate-income residents of Long Beach.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The LBHDC was established by the City of Long Beach on July 25, 1989. The LBHDC is a California non-profit public benefit corporation governed by a board comprised of 14 members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The Board sets policy and provides direction to Housing Services staff in acquiring, rehabilitating, sponsoring, and constructing affordable housing. The City Council approves the LBHDC's bylaws and changes thereto, and the City provides all staff and administrative support, including most of the LBHDC's annual funding.

MEETINGS
The LBHDC Board meets every month on the 3rd Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Large Conference Room of City Hall. The LBHDC also has four standing committees. Please confirm meetings by calling (562) 570-6949:

Purpose: Reviews legislation affecting affordable housing practices, programs and funding sources and prepares appropriate report to the full Board. Speaks on behalf of the LBHDC Board at public/community meetings, and attends City Council, RDA, Planning Commission or other meetings (whenever appropriate) to advocate for and support LBHDC-assisted projects or LBHDC-sponsored initiatives.
