BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

David Albers has considerable land use experience, having represented developers of land use projects throughout California. His work involved every aspect of development projects, including project design, property acquisition, environmental documentation, securing entitlements, political and media strategies, financing, public hearings, coordination with municipal lawyers, and defending project approvals. He has also represented clients in entity formation, corporate and regulatory compliance, particularly in the environmental arena, administrative hearings, and a wide array of commercial contracts, real estate transactions, financing, and litigation, including Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act cases.

In his representation of the Long Beach Harbor Department, Mr. Albers provides counsel on issues concerning compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, real estate matters, contracts and regulatory compliance.

In addition to practicing law, Mr. Albers was an owner and operator of a dairy farm for twenty years, and led a start-up renewable energy company in the agricultural sector. In 2009, Mr. Albers was awarded the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, California’s highest environmental honor, by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for his work in the area of Climate Change in the dairy industry. He has also twice served as a board member on the National Beef Promotion and Research Board. Furthermore, he served his community for the past ten years in the non-profit sector with leadership, grant writing, relationship building and advocacy, working to end homelessness in Kern County.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Mr. Albers, a member of the State Bar of California, is admitted to practice before all of the state courts of California, as well as the Central and Eastern District federal courts in California.

EDUCATION

Mr. Albers earned his law degree in 1998 from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
