Long Beach Airport Tour Guides
The Department of Public Works/Airport Bureau has an established group of trained volunteers who serve as Tour Guides for the Long Beach Airport. These volunteers conduct scheduled tours, as well as work alongside general staff at airport special events. Training and Security background checks are required of all participants in this program.
Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Requirements: 18 years or older, Security background check required Training: Provided on site Skills: Must be able to lead groups of all ages on walking tours of Airport. This requires a strong speaking voice, a sense of humor, flexibility, and a friendly attitude. Knowledge of aircraft is helpful, but not required. Duties: Lead tours for school age children and the general public and assist during special airport events. Details: Must be able to attend training/assignment meetings held the first Thursday of each month and lead a minimum of two tours a month. Long Beach Airport Ambassadors
Scheduled Hours: Daily -- mornings and afternoons Requirements: 18 years or older Training: Provided on site Skills: Must have a friendly attitude, clean and neat appearance, and ability to speak to the general public. Duties: Attend community events and promote the Airport. Greet, assist and direct Airport patrons. Answer frequently asked questions during heavy flight times. Details: Must commit to 8 hours a month in 2 - 4 hour increments. Training and Security background checks are required of all participants. Long Beach Airport Archivist
Scheduled Hours: Open Requirements: 18 years or older Training: Provided on site Skills: Interest in Long Beach aviation and history desired. Ability to learn to properly archive. Duties: Review and properly archive historical documents and photos. Work alongside Long Beach Historical society. Details: Must commit to a minimum of 8 hours a month. Training and Security background checks are required of all participants.
