Rescue Partners assist us by socializing our animals, grooming, special events, dog training and helping our kennel staff as needed. They are an integral part of what we do at the shelter. If you are interested in volunteering as a Rescue Partner and you are 18 years of age or older, please fill out the application below and either drop it off in person or mail it:
Long Beach Animal Care Services
attn: Rescue Partner Program
7700 E Spring Street
Long Beach, CA 90755
Once we have received your application and the initial screening has taken place, you can attend our volunteer orientation from 6pm-8pm at the shelter. Orientation dates for 2017 are the second Friday of every month:
You can also attend the orientation before filling out the application, however, attending the orientation does not guarantee you will be approved to volunteer. After the orientation is completed and you are approved to be a volunteer, you will have to complete a LiveScan and apply for a badge, at no cost to you. The final step to becoming a volunteer is shadowing one of our designated Rescue Partners.
