|Holiday Schedule for Refuse, Recycling, Parking and Street Sweeping|
REFUSE/RECYCLING: There will be NO collection on Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st. Collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week, ending on Saturday.
PARKING: Meters with holiday exemptions will NOT be enforced on Dec. 25th and Jan. 1st. All meters and time zones WILL be enforced on Dec. 24th and 31st.
STREET SWEEPING: Street Sweeping will not occur on Dec. 25th or Jan. 1st. Street Sweeping will occur on its regular schedule after the holidays (on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2) with no delays or make-ups.
Local pet owners and animal lovers can now easily search for adoptable cats and dogs, find local dog parks, search impounded animals and locate emergency and after-hours veterinary facilities with the new Long Beach Animal Care Services (ACS) mobile application.
From filling thousands of potholes to achieving comprehensive pension reform, from completing a new fire station to getting more homeless people off the streets and into shelters, the City of Long Beach had a productive year in 2013.The city manager's office has published a 16 page brochure (click here) highlighting the City's many accomplishments and awards in 2013. Once per month, Staff Caseworkers from our new Member of Congress Janice Hahn (44th District - CA) come into this community to meet with constituents. These one-on one discussions cover topics of YOUR choice as constituents, to include assistance with problems you're having with a federal agency, such as VA, Social Security, IRA, Immigration issues, HUD, etc.

Area residents now have a convenient, one-stop venue to safely and properly dispose of their household hazardous, universal and electronic wastes. It's free, and open from 9:00AM- 2:00PM the second Saturday of every month.

There has been an increase in residential burglaries.
It is not to late to join the Bixby Knolls Strollers. Join the Bixby Strollers every Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. Join the group at its NEW Location Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at 4105 Atlantic. It's a great way to get fit, check out the businesses, explore the neighborhoods, and meet your neighbors. (Friendly) dogs are welcome, too. The walks last for about an hour. Route changes each week.
