Identify A Utility Worker
TIPS TO IDENTIFY A  UTILITY WORKER

Recently, suspects posed as utility workers to distract residents while a partner or partners burglarized the victim's home.  If you have been a victim of this ruse or need police assistance, please call police dispatch at 9-1-1 or (562) 435-6711.

A few tips to identify a utility worker include:

Utility employees are identifiable by their uniform and are required, upon  request, to show an official identification card

Customer contact is made either in person by a uniformed employee or through a form that is left in a prominent location on the property. The form provides a contact number to inquire about the work scheduled or to reschedule the work at a more convenient time

Corix Utilities  reads  all  water and gas  meters  in the City of  Long Beach. Corix meter readers wear a Corix ID badge and khaki colored uniforms with a bright yellow safety vest

If you have any doubt, call the appropriate department to verify the legitimacy of the employee

News ImageRoadway Reconstruction on Del Amo Blvd. Now Underway
Work has begun on a $1.3 million roadway improvement project along Del Amo Blvd. in the Cities of Carson and Long Beach and the unincorporated community of Rancho Dominquez.

The project, managed by LA County Public Works Department, will consist of reconstruction and repaving work in five different stretches of Del Amo Blvd. between Wilmington Ave. and the 710/Long Beach Fwy.

To minimize the impact to commuters and business owners, construction work will involve partial weeknight road closures and full road closures on designated weekends.

On weeknights, Del Amo Blvd. and Susana Rd. may be reduced to one traffic lane in each direction between the construction hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. On weekdays, lanes will be open in both directions between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. Left-turn lanes may be closed intermittently during construction hours.

Weekend road closures will be full closures to all traffic from Friday evening at 9 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

Prior to the start of construction, signage informing motorists of traffic restrictions will be installed on Del Amo Blvd., Susana Rd. and other intersections along the project route. Detour information can be obtained at dpw.lacounty.gov/go/DelAmoBlvd

Public Works will also provide a road closure e-mail notification through its eNotify system. Please visit www.dpw.lacounty.gov, select the Road Closure icon and sign up on eNotify "Dominguez" area notifications to receive project updates.

For any questions regarding the project, contact Public Works Construction Supervisor Ali Dana at (626) 482-2732, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Construction is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

News ImageUpdate on Ralphs Supermarket
I have confirmed with corporate representatives of Ralphs Supermarket that they will be closing their Bixby Knolls store at 4250 Long Beach Boulevard in mid-June.

Ralphs currently owns the location, and they are planning on selling the property. They will NOT be converting the site to a Food 4 Less.

I will be meeting with representatives of Ralphs in the coming weeks to further discuss their future plans.

I will keep you posted.

Stay tuned,

AL AUSTIN
