United States Senate

The United States Senate is a legislative chamber in the bicameral legislature of the United States, and together with the U.S. House of Representatives, makes up the United States Congress. The Constitution prescribes that the Senate be composed of two Senators from each State and that a Senator must be at least thirty years of age, have been a citizen of the United States for nine years, and, when elected, be a resident of the State from which he or she is chosen. The following Senators represent California.

Senator Dianne Feinstein

As California's senior Senator, Dianne Feinstein has built a reputation as an independent voice, working with both Democrats and Republicans to find common-sense solutions to the problems facing California and the Nation. Since her election to the Senate in 1992, Senator Feinstein's career has been one of firsts. Most recently, Senator Feinstein became the first female Senator to assume the chairmanship of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
